Spring Valley house, Kenya

Stanley Huyton worked for the railways in British East Africa in the 1950s and lived for six months with his family in this house, which was located on the edge of Nairobi National Park. The garden was ‘quite big’ with flowers, shrubs and some vegetables grown by the staff. According to Huyton, the view from the house was ‘spectacular; I could see Mount Kenya!’. Inside, the house was sparsely furnished; ‘it wasn’t the kind of house you could be fond of.’
