Zaria house unpacking, Nigeria

From a letter by John Herbert to his parents, 15 May 1953: ‘I unpacked yesterday. – not a thing broken, in the big crate of crockery. Pretty good and just what Bakers said (i.e. “don’t insure against breakage. When we pack nothing ever gets broken.”) The dinner and tea services are very-very nice and the little aluminum teapot excellent, as the one with the set is so big, that it wastes tea, which is very expensive.’
